"I worked my whole life before I retired 5 years ago. I thought I would enjoy having the time to do anything I wanted. After a while, I realised that previous workmate friendships had faded. Eventually, I stopped going out and sat at home everyday. I had no purpose, I wasn't needed anymore! My health began to deteriorate, aches and pains, I visited my GP. While I was sitting in the waiting room I watched a information screen mounted on the wall opposite. I saw an advert for Springburn Park Men's Shed. My GP recommended I give them a call, I did. I spoke to a guy and told him I was a retired metalworker, he told me he was too. I visited next day, had a cuppa and a chat and a tour of the facilities. I signed up straight away, now I have a new circle of friends and most importantly, a reason to get out of bed, walk up to the park and spend time sharing my skills with others and learning new skills. It changed my life!

I am a Carer, I look after my wife at home. I have 8 hours respite per week when someone looks after my wife so I can have some time to myself. I had seen the Men's Shed in Springburn Park but didn't think it was for me. One day I was watching some guys in the yard and started chatting to them. I was told there was a free community meal that day so I went in for a bowl of soup and some cake. I was told I could come in anytime if I wanted to help out as a volunteer. A couple of weeks later I did, it was great to meet and chat with other men, the banter is fantastic. Im now a member and look forward to seeing the guys every week.

" I love coming to the Men's Shed. After my wife passed away I became lonely and withdrawn. My daughter nagged me to try the Springburn Park Men's Shed. Eventually, she drove me to the park and we spoke to the men. I came back the next week to try it for a few days. The other men made me very welcome im now making things with my hands, id always worked in administration but wanted to try woodwork. Ive made so many things for my garden and for my grandchildren. I love coming to the men's Shed, if it were open everyday I would be there."
